How to Win a Trip to Vegas

Competitions and sweepstakes are free opportunities for a grand adventure. After all, travel is largely restricted due to factors like work responsibilites and finances. But all it takes is a savvy eye and a few minutes of time to make a dream trip to Las Vegas or Disney World a reality.

In fact, there are almost countless ways to enter competitions and sweepstakes that may allow you to experience all the world has to offer—and on someone else’s dime. There are postcard competitions that only require a stamp; magazine competitions that can be found in grocery and convenience stores; and, of course, the infamous radio competitions that require someone to call in at a certain time (and usually with an answer to a trivia question).

The more illustrious the location, the more people are likely to enter a sweepstakes competition. Though the range of prizes continues to grow, competitions that promise a free trip to Vegas in the United States are some of the most common sweepstakes entered every year.

However, not all competitions are created equal. Given that a bit of time, effort, and hope are put behind each entry you’ll make in a sweepstake, it pays off to read the fine print before submitting an entry and knowing which sweepstakes offer the best opportunities.

PokerStars Trip

For those who are gaming-inclined, a trip to Vegas is a trip of a lifetime. Plus, there’s a way to make it to the City of Lights and get some practice play in along the way. Some online gaming sites offer qualifying tournaments that award winners an all-expenses-paid, six-day trip to Vegas. For those interested in taking part in the competition, keep in mind that Grand Finals are held every two months on a rolling basis.

In order to enter for a chance to play poker in the mecca of gaming and enjoy a trip for two that’s worth $5,000 and lasts six days, sign up for PokerStars and enter one of their free daily qualifier tournaments. From there, you'll need to win a few rounds in order to make it to the Grand Finals.

As aforementioned, Grand Finals take place every two months, which means that there’s plenty of time to try your hand (literally) at poker and, most importantly, have fun while you compete for a trip to Vegas. It will require a little brain exercise, but the perks include return flights, five nights in a luxury hotel that includes breakfast, insurance for the whole trip, and hotel transfers.

Simply Prizes Vegas Trip

Simply Prizes is a website that aggregates top sweepstakes deals and brings them together in one website. Their Viva Las Vegas free trip deal is just one of many great opportunities offered.

Simply Prizes works to connect visitors to the site with different sweepstakes opportunities, but many include more than just a trip to Vegas. While visitors will be directed to an external site that has the best current sweepstakes, there’s often little more involved than typing a name, email or physical address, and answering a few questions in order to enter.

Unlike their PokerStars counterpart, one Vegas trip (hosted by the British PR company Active) included more than a free stay at a top resort. Not only were the winners picked up in a Hummer, but they also received £3,000 in spending money, were allowed to choose the hotel they stayed at, and were also given the option to extend their trip to fit in other sightseeing along the way.

In fact, when considering entering a sweepstake that offers a trip to Las Vegas, keep in mind that there’s way more to the City of Lights than fancy casinos and dazzling spectacles.

For the trip hosted by Active, the winners were able to check out other nearby sites, such as the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Excursion trips to similar areas are common for travelers to check out during their time in Vegas and, unlike many other features in the desert metropolis, won’t break the bank.
