5 Steps to Starting a Hugely Successful Eco-Friendly Business

Companies are becoming aware of how their business practices negatively impact the environment. This is one of the main reasons that businesses are taking steps to become more eco-friendly. Consumers are choosing to pay more to purchase from environmentally friendly companies.Professionals are now looking for ways to become eco-friendly. There are many ways to take steps to become more sustainable. The main question people in business have is how to start. Below you will find steps you can take to become a business that looks out for our environment.

 1. Get Rid of Paper Products

Many businesses don’t think of the amount of paper they use if you provide cups for employees to drink out of, encourage employees to bring reusable water bottles. If you currently use paper towels, switch out and install an automatic hand dryer. The next step is to look at how much copy paper you’re company is using. I mean, it’s 2021, and almost everything is done digitally. You can even sign contracts digitally. This doesn’t mean you’ll never have to print things off… because you will, but look for ways around it when possible.

2. Stop Using Plastic

For many years people believed that due to the size of the ocean, they could dump endless amounts of garbage in it. This proved to be false; in a year, over 100 million marine animals die from plastic. They may believe it is food or become entangled in it. Some mammals have ingested 12-14,000 tons of plastic just by the North Pacific fish alone. These statistics are eye-opening and are a big part of why people throw out plastic and choose to go with earth-friendly products. There are many choices you can make instead of plastic. These choices will reduce the amount you use and give you solutions that work just as well. It’s going to take work to get into this habit because it’s been around for many years.

    • Plastics made from polyethylene
    • Biodegradable plastics
    • Refillable in pens

3. Hire the Right Employees

The only way you’re going to accomplish your goals is if your employees are on the same team as you. To get the results you are looking for, applicants must know what they want to accomplish. You can do this by having a website that clearly states the qualifications applicants need. The website should reflect your company’s culture on the recruitment site. These basic steps let people know if they are a good fit for your company.

Make sure that your website reflects your companies values. The best way to do this is to make sure your company has a comprehensive recruitment marketing plan. The plan will tell your company’s story and what goals you want to accomplish. The main idea of recruitment marketing is that instead of looking for employees, potential applicants find you.

4. Encourage Recycling

Recycling is one of the most important ways you can reduce your carbon footprint. Many businesses want to encourage employees to do this but don’t realize how many products can be recycled. There are obvious things like paper products, cardboard, and bottles. But did you know you could recycle inkjet cartridges and toner cartridges? Also instead of throwing away your old computers, you can recycle them by asking computer companies if they offer this type of program. Also, if you have a computer that works well, you can donate them to your local library or a local charity.

5. Partner with Other Green Companies

One great way to make your company eco-friendly is to source goods from other companies that are environmentally friendly. If you aren’t sure where to start, you can buy from businesses that are close to you. Buying from local companies not only helps the local community it also lower gas emissions. The second step you can take is to make a purchasing policy. Once you create the list, you should go over this with your employees. If you are unsure of what to put on the list, a few ideas are listed below.

    • Only buy from manufacturers who sustainably create goods.
    • It does not contain toxic materials.
    • Either can be recycled or is made from recycled materials
    • Products that you can repair instead of throw away

This is just the start of things you can do to create an eco-friendly business. There are many other things you can do as well. The most important choice that needs to be made is to do it.
