How to travel the world while working

You've probably seen them online. Those people who post photos of them working on their laptops from the side of a pool. Those influencers you see on the ‘gram with hundreds of thousands of followers, letting everyone know that they've checked in at the airport and will be working on the plane. What about the entrepreneurs who are cruising the Med, occasionally checking in on their stocks and shares between jet ski rides? How do you go about it though? Can you actually have a job that funds your global travels and more? Let's have a look at how to travel the world while working.

To Travel Is To Live

The saying goes that to travel is to live. People say that travel can broaden the mind. It can actually open your eyes to what it out there, spark creative ideas, feed your imagination. When you step out of your comfort zone, the place you have grown up, the house you have lived in for a decade, you see new things. There is a whole wide world out there and whilst we see it on screens via streaming sites and travel photography, there is nothing quite immersing yourself in it for real.

Of course, travel comes with cost. Maybe even more so these days than ever before. Imagine being able to work a job from the road. Logging on via airport lounge WiFi. Checking your phone from the comfort of a hotel balcony as you relax in the heat of the setting sun. It is possible, you just need to find a job that allows you to do just that.

Potential Employed Jobs That Will Allow You To Travel

The wide world out there is open to all of us. We just need to make a choice to go see it. Some of the most obvious employed roles that you could consider include those roles that help people to travel. If you were to become a pilot, or cabin crew, you will likely spend time in other countries. It might be the occasional night but you might be able to organise your schedule so you can see different parts of the world whilst working on the way there. That sounds like a brilliant idea of how to travel the world while working.

If that doesn't take your fancy, consider trying to get a job with businesses that deal internationally. It could be that you work in the branch of the business based in your country, however you have to make a trip every other month to where head office is based. Maybe you can wangle a trip to another office in another country. All whilst seeing different parts of the world. Then there are business trips and conferences that you might be able to attend. All whilst travelling the globe and seeing new things. You never know, the business you work for might have links with the far east and you could be jet setting it over there to talk shop, whilst enjoying the bright lights and busy cities.

The Freedom Of Being Self Employed

Whilst working for someone else might give you the opportunity to travel, whilst getting paid, you might want to travel in your own way. When asking how to travel the world while working, the answer might be becoming self employed. Setting yourself up in business in a way that you control. How can you earn your own money from the road? Is there really an opportunity for little old you to see beautiful destinations, knowing you are making money from a business in the background? Well, yes! There are lots of potential ideas you could put into place. The first and perhaps most obvious is a freelance travel writer. Get paid to give your opinion on travel! You can literally travel and then tell the story of what you get up to. Your travelling is your job!

There Are Plenty Of Ideas You Can Develop

Other ideas include dropshipping businesses, where you have a website but don't physically hold any products or have to deal with packaging and posting. All of that is done via a third party who take a cut of the profits. However you can make great money with a successful dropshipping business. You might just need to log on a few times a week to check everything is running smoothly and do a bit of admin and marketing.

How about photography? It could be in any niche really, from landscape and portrait photography to photo journalism. Get yourself exploring different countries and see if you can tell a story with your captured images. Sell them to newspapers and even publish them yourself on a blog. Perhaps you can capture an incredible sunset over the Serengeti National Park that sells to a tourist board.

A vlogger could create content on their travels and then upload it to platforms like YouTube to build an audience. Large viewing numbers can turn into decent money whilst will help pay for your travel. Enjoy a day of creating content, another editing from your campervan and then relax on the beach for a couple of says before starting again. The opportunities are available and there are plenty of them! You just have to pick one and begin.

Where Will You Go & What Will You Do?

With the opportunities available, you just need to push yourself to get going. It isn't the most traditional way of working, sure. It isn't the most secure way of having a career, agreed. However it can be exciting. You can meet amazing people, walk wondrous lands and see incredible sights. Pretty sure we all have a bucket list to fill as well. The question to ask is where will you go and what will you do? When you have that nailed down, you can really get on with it. When you figure out how to travel the world while working you might never return home to a normal 9-5 career. Life is for living and if you want to hit the road, head to the airport or relax on a board on the calmest of oceans, get yourself out there and enjoy it.
