10 Summer Jobs To Help Pay The Bills This Year

Summer jobs are so important for a lot of people. Whether you are a student home from university or a parent looking for some extra cash to keep the kids entertained over the holidays, summer jobs can be fantastic. The only thing to ask yourself is what you want to be doing for a good few weeks during the warmth of June, July and August? Whilst the money is important, it's also important to enjoy your summer months too. In this post, we're going to look at 10 summer jobs to help pay the bills this year. Some of them might even offer hours during other holidays or you might even be able to return year after year. Let's kick start some ideas with tutoring.

Tutor

Do you have knowledge that you can share? Maybe you have an A level in English Language or have studied Japanese at university. It could even be the simple fact that you can play the guitar. There are people all over the world who want to learn what you can teach them. You could be teaching people a new skill they've wanted to learn for years or perhaps helping students get ahead on their studies for the coming year.

A great part of tutoring is that a lot of it now takes place via Zoom calls. This means you don't have commuting time to get to people's houses or have to make sure your front room is clean and tidy for people coming around. It also means you can tutor anybody with an internet connection, so you could be teaching the tuba to someone in Turkey or tutoring a Korean student with their English speaking skills. You can organise your own calendar and schedule students so you can still enjoy some of the summer.

Gardening

How about summer jobs that allow you to work outside? We don't get an awful lot of hot weather around here so enjoying it when we can is important. Gardening is a great way to earn some money whilst enjoying the fresh air. It can be an extremely hard graft though, so be prepared for long hours and aching muscles. You could ring around some gardening companies to see if they need an extra pair of hands over the summer.

Alternatively, you could find your own clients. People in your neighbourhood will have odd jobs and yard work that they won't get around to this summer. Offer a fair price and do a good job and you'll get repeat business. Word of mouth is also a powerful tool so one client can easily turn into two, which can turn into four and so on. Trimming hedges, pulling weeds, mowing lawns, summer jobs could be worse! How about making money from your own garden?

Working In Retail

You will often find summer jobs working in retail. This could be stacking shelves, picking out shopping for delivery or even working on the tills.
