Save Money On Cinema Tickets

There are so many must-see films hitting the cinema screens every week. We're inundated by the latest and greatest superhero film or the next instalment in a much loved franchise. Then there are animated features from game changing production houses that will blow our minds. On top of that we're treated to romantic comedies for date nights and remakes which often intrigue us into buying a ticket. The depth and range of films available at cinemas is second to none. Whilst we often want to see these movies, the cost of going to the cinema can be quite expensive. Let's have a look at how to save money on cinema tickets.

2 for 1 Tickets

One of the best known ways to save money on cinema tickets is by getting 2 for 1 every week. This used to be called Orange Wednesdays and it was a huge deal if you were an Orange mobile phone customer. The company has since become EE and the offer dropped. However, Compare The Market took it over and in many ways made it better. Meerkat Movies is available to anyone who purchases product via Compare The Market. Even a one day travel insurance policy will give you 12 month access to the 2 for 1 tickets.

What's even better, is that it is available on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can get the code from the app which you will need when booking your tickets. It helps to cut the cost of going to the movies as two people can go for the price of one. Booking fees are not included however you and a friend can go to the watch the latest blockbuster for between £5-£10 depending on the cinema you visit. You can use this every week for a year and then make another cheap insurance purchase for another 12 months access. The savings pay for themselves straight away.

Early Morning Offers

Did you know that some of the best known cinema chains offer cheaper tickets before a certain time of day? Reel Cinema, for example, usually charge £5 a ticket, which is pretty cheap in today's expensive climate. However if you go to a film which starts before 1pm, you'll only pay £3.50. Obviously, this might not work for some people due to work commitments and other things. The film that you want to see might also not have a showing before that time too. However, if there is something available before 1pm that you want to watch, you might as well save money on cinema tickets by going earlier in the day.

Kids Club Prices

Lots of cinemas offer kids club screenings early at the weekends and during the school holidays. These are usually animated films and family features which have been out for a number of weeks. They can often be quiet too, as they usually start at around 10am and are for films that people may have already seen when they first arrived in the cinema. You'll find the likes of Disney animations and plenty of Minions! The great thing is that the prices can be just a couple of pounds per ticket. That includes the grown ups too. These kids club screenings are usually the same price for all tickets, regardless of age. This can be an affordable treat for families and also help with introducing children to the joy of cinema without a hefty price tag.

Silver Screens & Students

You can also save money on cinema tickets if you are over a certain age or are a student. Some cinemas have specific ‘silver screen' film showings for OAPs and those people who are retired. These cut price tickets can be under £5 per person. They often include some modern movies as well as classic flicks from the past. Students get a great discount on cinema tickets, which is great because going to the cinema is often a huge part of student life. A 25% student discount or similar can help those attending university and college enjoy a night off from studying whilst saving some cash in the process. Why pay full price when you can see the exact same film, at the exact same time, sitting in the exact same seat, for less?

Monthly Passes

You can save money on cinema tickets by purchasing a monthly pass to a certain chain of cinemas. These can be from as little as £9.99 a month. Your pass lets you watch as many screenings as you wish. A monthly pass could pay for itself in just a couple of viewings. These monthly passes usually roll over from month to month and so if you don't want to continue, be sure you know when to cancel. If you are on holiday for a few weeks over the summer, you might as well cancel for a month and then re-join when you are actually available to go to the cinema. You can make it even cheaper by buying an annual subscription instead of a monthly one. This usually works out at you getting 12 months for the price of 10.

Save Money On Cinema Tickets By Purchasing Vouchers

You can shop for cinema tickets with voucher sites like Wowcher who often have discounted prices on bundles of tickets. You could save 20% or more by purchasing tickets this way. They often have short ‘use by' dates so make sure you will actually use them before you buy. These voucher sites can often be found on cashback sites too, meaning you can save even further.

With so many incredible films being released in cinemas over the next few months, including The Batman, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Downton Abbey: A New Era & Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, saving some cash when you go to the cinema is a great idea. Don't forget to take your own bag of sweets or popcorn as they are overpriced in the cinema foyer. What will you see when you next visit the cinema? Whatever film is pulling you in, lose yourself in the wonder of movies for a few hours and save money on cinema tickets.
