Nectar is one of the most popular loyalty point schemes in the UK. However, as with most loyalty cards, understanding the value of each point can be a challenge. Today I’ll be sharing what 1,000 Nectar Points are worth in real time.
The points value will vary depending on how you spend them, so I’ll be completing an entire breakdown so you can decide where you want to spend your points, and what on…
How To Register For A Nectar Card
If for some crazy reason you don’t already have a Nectar card, then be sure to sign up for on the Nectar website.
How To See How Many Nectar Points You Have?
You can find out how many Nectar points you currently have by;
Downloading the Nectar application for your smartphone
Claiming Nectar points from a participating retailer and checking the receipt.

What Retailers Take Part In The Nectar Loyalty Card Scheme?
There are currently more than 450 brands where you can claim Nectar points on the money you spend. You can see the full list here, for now, here’s a quick breakdown of some of my favourites;

- Disney store (online)
- Debenhams (online)
What’s 1,000 Nectar Points Cost?
Provided you don’t take part in any bonus schemes in order to claim your Nectar points then you’ll have spent a total of £1,000 to earn 1,000 Nectar points (in Sainsbury’s on qualifying purchases – not tobacco, lottery, newspapers etc…)
That’s because, for every £1 you spend, you get 1 Nectar Point.
Of course, you can get some pretty great bonuses by taking part in Nectar surveys hosted online, or using vouchers either sent to you in the post, in magazines or on the Nectar mobile app.
1,000 Nectar Points Equals
Different retailers offer different discounts and rewards for spending your Nectar points with them.
1,000 Nectar points are worth £5.00 if spent at Sainsbury’s.
You can also spend Nectar points at a whole number of different retailers including;
- Thorpe Park
- Go Ape
- Playstation magazine
- Virgin Trains
You can get anything from 1x to 3x more if you’re willing to redeem your Nectar points for vouchers online using the Nectar website. For example, with 500 points you can get £3.75 off at Pizza Express or Longleat. Choose vouchers for £3.75, £7.50, £15 or £30.
The redemption process varies by retailer – eg, you can just use your card at Vue Cinemas to spend points, while you’ll need to get an e-voucher for Longleat and Pizza Express so be sure to check the place you plan to redeem your points prior to your purchase.
