BlogOn MSI Conference Review
BlogOn was established in 2012 by blogger Laura Seaton who blogs over at Tired Mummy of Two. The conference is held in Manchester, (currently at the Museum of Science and Industry – hence BlogOn MSI). The event prides itself on being for bloggers, by bloggers and covers everything from photography, right through to social media and brands / brand relationships.
This is the second time I've attended BlogOn MSI and honestly. It just keeps getting better. The conference is the perfect size, the attendees are friendly, the brands are amazing and the speakers and sessions are designed around you!
This is without a doubt my favourite blogging conference in the UK at this moment in time!
BlogOn MSI is held at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, England. It’s a perfect venue. With amazing travel connections across the rest of the UK. The bonus of it being in the city centre, without it really being in the city centre. By that I mean. I can still drive and get parked easily and cheaply – which for me is always a giant plus!
The day was split to feature four sessions, with a choice of four sessions to attend per break out. Here’s what the schedule of BlogOn MSI 2017 looked like;
Working With Brands: Hosted by Laura Seaton herself and two guests from the PR industry this was a great insight into the ‘working with brands’ from both the blogger and PR perspective. With a chance to learn about expectations, as well as the do’s and don’ts of working with brands.
6 Steps To Going Pro: I can not think of anyone better to host this session but the highly talented Aby Moore who’s blog, YouBabyMeMummy seems only to go from strength to strength. This session was by far my favourite of the day!
Youtube After Edit: We all know I’m a huge fan of Youtube. However, recently I’ve been looking at exploring ways to really take things to the next level. Luke Woodhouse, one half of the blended parent shared his experience – as a result I ended up getting an awesomely designed intro for my daily videos.
Pinterest: My final session of the day was Pinterest. Something I’m determined to learn more about in 2017! Hosted by the prolific Pinner Grace from Eats Amazing I was left with a huge to do list, and feeling much more confident about the social network / search engine as a whole.
In conclusion, the variety of sessions available was fantastic and the quality of those presenting was absolutely brilliant!
Despite being open to anyone, BlogOn MSI like many of the other blogger conferences in the UK is predominantly filled with parent bloggers.
However, unlike at BritMums Live I didn’t seem like ‘the odd one out’ or a lost sheep in the crowd. The atmosphere just seemed much more welcoming. It didn’t seem as much of a competition, who’s blogs better etc… which was so reassuring – especially in my first year!
Value For Money
My BlogOn ticket was £42.27 – Although it’s worth mentioning I got it at the early bird price. Was it good value for money? – Heck yes!
The goody bag bloggers receive at the end of the day in my opinion often retails for a similar amount. So technically you’re getting the knowledge for £42.27 and a load of amazing free stuff!
